When Women Rise, the World Changes

A reflection for International Women’s Day

Every year, when International Women’s Day approaches, I find myself pausing for a moment.

Not just to celebrate women—but to really think about them.

The women who came before us.
The women walking beside us.
And the women quietly becoming who they are meant to be.

Because the truth is, the world we live in today was shaped by women who refused to stay small.

Women who showed up even when life had knocked them down.
Women who carried families, dreams, and sometimes entire communities on their shoulders.

But here’s something I’ve been thinking about lately:

Not every strong woman looks strong on the outside.

Sometimes strength looks like getting out of bed after a difficult season.
Sometimes it looks like choosing kindness after heartbreak.
Sometimes it looks like starting over when life didn’t go the way you planned.

And sometimes… strength looks like simply remembering who you are.

I’ve met so many women who carry invisible stories—loss, disappointment, moments where life cracked them open in ways they never expected. Yet somehow, inside those cracks, something remarkable begins to grow.

A deeper compassion.
A stronger voice.
A clearer sense of purpose.

That’s the part of the story we don’t talk about enough.

The quiet rebuilding.

The small steps forward.

The moment a woman realizes that the thing that almost broke her… actually revealed her strength.

To me, International Women’s Day isn’t just about history or recognition. It’s about honoring the journey women take to become themselves.

Not perfect.
Not polished.
But real.

And if you’re a woman reading this who feels like you’re still figuring things out… please hear this:

You are not behind.

Your story is still unfolding.
Your voice still matters.
And the world is better because you are in it.

So today, let’s celebrate the bold women, the quiet women, the rebuilding women, the dreaming women.

Because when women rise—gently, bravely, authentically—the world rises with them.

Reflection:

What is one strength in you that life has quietly revealed?

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply recognize the strength we already carry. 💛
