When Negative Feelings Visit

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

Negative feelings show up in everyone’s life. I’ve learned not to pretend they aren’t there. Instead, I pause and acknowledge them.

Writing helps me the most. When I put my thoughts on paper, what feels heavy inside often becomes clearer.

I also remind myself that feelings are like seasons—they pass. A walk, a quiet moment, or a deep breath can shift everything.

Most importantly, I try to offer myself the same kindness I give to others.

Sometimes negative feelings aren’t there to break us…
they’re there to remind us to slow down, listen, and take care of our hearts. ✨

Very simple and true. I wonder the idea of coping with them versus running from them. I have struggled to not just run from them or to find the difference. If I go for a walk to empty my mind am I walking away from them? Ignoring them when I put on an audiobook? Surey when I drink, I am numbing and running. That one I can tell. But how do we know when we are coping, not running?
